Our computer courses are designed for people who may have computers but do not feel confident using them.
We supply Laptop computers and are able to accommodate 12 students in a class.
All Laptops are set up to run "Windows 7" & Microsoft 2010 Office.
The lessons are held at the Uniting Church, Robinson Rd, Aspley on Wednesdays at 9.30 am. If numbers indicate a need for a second class this is held at 11.30 am . Computer classes are held during terms 1,2 &3.
Enrolement days are shown on the 2015 Program Page.
Notes are supplied for the course, these are intended for beginners and follow the beginner’s class syllabus.
They are written to accompany the introduction of Windows 7 & office 2010 on Compaq and Toshiba Notebooks to ACFS Classes.
The notes are written in a class instruction style, very basic concepts are introduced and terminology & jargon are explained in a general way.
Early parts consequently are partly historical background information.
Students are encouraged to practice what has been done in class when they are at home. This helps to consolidate the learning and prompts questions to ask at the next session.
Our tutor Barrie is supported by volunteer assistants, so help is always close by if a student is having difficulty following the lesson.
The more advanced computing course has Modules covering use of some typical computer programs tailored to meet class needs. Examples are WORD, SPREADSHEETS, POWERPOINT, PHOTO DOWNLOADING & EDITING, INTERNET & E-MAIL..Possible including an Introduction to iPad & Android (tablet).
Students need to discus their needs with the tutor.
